PAT LAW
Exploring the land and the people on the Isle of Lewis and how they connect, the works include moving image, still image (Mhairi Law), field drawings with discarded objects, and performance. The opening event took take place in the Fish Shed on Stornoway harbour on the evening of Saturday 26th September with large scale projection and performance overlooking the harbour waters. The Horse Box, an adapted horse trailer also housed work featuring projection over still image with soundtrack by Aidan O'Rourke. The field drawings, discarded objects and photographic images were shown in an Lanntair Arts Centre for the month of October.
Associated workshops in an Lanntair took place in the run-up to the exhibition with net-mending acting as a catalyst to encourage the partipants to pen their own stories and poems (Ian Stephen, storyteller, with Coy the net-mender).
To kick off events we joined forces with the Ceilidh Place in Ullapool, with a performance in the Ferry Terminal by Ian Stephen and Kirsty Law and a guest appearance by local singer and poet, Lisa Macdonald. The Horse Box was parked alongside with a chance to view part of the exhibits.
A blog created from wanderings over the island, shares observations and conversations, with contributions from others along the way:
