Heriot Toun in spring

In and Around Heriot

Sadly we have no bars or restaurants within walking distance of the studio but there are several a short car ride away.

The nearest pubs/restaurants are:

Lauder: The Black Bull  Recently taken over and refurbished. Good food and drink.

Innerleithen: The Traquair Arms  about a 20 minute drive down a beautiful rural road (popular with cyclists).

Pathhead: The Stair Arms  about a 15 minute drive across the Tynehead road to the A68.

Newtongrange: The Sun Inn Award winning gastropub about 10 minutes drive north

The nearest cafes are:

The Cloudhouse Cafe located in Stow, about 9mls south on the A7. Cafe/Gallery (licenced too)
Open Tuesday - Sunday, 10.30am - 4.30pm

No. 1 cafe in Innerleithen serves great coffee, cakes and lunches. Frequented by lots of happy mountain-bikers!

The Spotty Dog deli in Lauder, also does great coffee.

The Flat Cat Gallery and Cafe also in Lauder

Food shopping:

There is a large Tesco supermarket 15 minutes north on the A7 or 30 mins south in Galashiels. They also do online deliveries to Heriot. www.tesco.com - see us for details.

Real butchers: Shaw's both in Lauder and Innerleithen

The Allotment For fruit and veg and a deli too, also in Innerleithen

The town of Dalkeith is a 15 minute drive and the town of Peebles is a lovely drive 30min from Heriot on the picturesque B709. (Peebles also has the Eastgate Theatre and numerous arts and crafts outlets.)

The city centre of Edinburgh is 17miles north and the Borders town of Galashiels is 17 miles south, both on the A7.

The milkman (R. & W.G. Anderson) comes twice a week on Monday and Friday. He also sells fruit, veg. and soft drinks.

TheX95 bus stops on the A7 at the village and can take you to many of these places.
