How to find Heriot Toun Studio

Heriot Toun is located in the Scottish Borders, 17miles south of Edinburgh, 17 miles north of Galashiels on the A7. It's easy-peasy. Here's a photo of the turnoff on the A7 coming from the north:

When you turn off the A7 and go over the new concrete bridge over the railway, you'll see this:

Take the B709 to Innerleithen and we're now about one minute away! Look out for the creamy yellow gable end on the right as you come down the hill, the studio sits above it. Two white poles mark the bottom of the track, turn off here and head up the track to the studio where you can park outside.

If you pass the McFie Hall or the school, you've gone too far. Oh - and a word of warning - don't believe your satnav if you have one - it takes you a mile further down the road to Borthwick Hall.

Public Transport
The Borders now has a train line! Unfortunately Heriot wasn't given a station.. so car and bus will take you directly to Heriot, or the train will take you to Gorebridge (closest station) then it's the bus from there. Get in touch with us to find out what's best for you.

Winter Time

One of the lovely thing about the studio is that it's just off the beaten track and accessed via a private farm track ensuring a high degree of peace and quiet. It's a great place to be in the winter and we'll even give you a sledge if you're lucky enough to be here when it snows!

However, the council does not clear our short length of track in the winter. Given that it is short, if it's slippy or snowy it's easy to park your car at the bottom by our gate (on our land only) for the short walk up to the studio. Please speak to us before you do this to ensure that cars don't get in the way of the farmer's trailer and tractor.

So check the weather forecast and local conditions before you arrive. Feel free to give us a ring.
